Special Circumstances/Special Provision

If a candidate’s performance in the CEA has been affected by circumstances beyond his/her control or if he/she was not able to be present to sit the assessment, parents/guardians may wish to apply for Special Circumstances or Special Provision following the assessment. The SC16 Application Form, the SC16 Guidance for Parents and the SC16 Guidance for Primary Principals may all be downloaded in a printable format on the links below.

PLEASE NOTE : SC16 FORMS ALONG WITH ANY EVIDENCE SHOULD NOT BE RETURNED TO THE AQE OFFICE, SIMPLY HOLD ONTO THEM UNTIL THE NECESSARY TIME.

In summary…..

1. Obtain Form SC16 from either AQE website (please see the link above) or a school to which you are applying. 

2. Gather the evidence required to validate the claim and support any increase in the CEA score (e.g. doctors notes etc). It is essential that all evidence is provided at the time. Parents should be aware that in the criteria of some schools, independent evidence may carry greater weight.

3. Complete Form SC16 and then attach it along with the supporting evidence to the Transfer Form.

4. Take everything TO YOUR PRIMARY SCHOOL at the stage of your Transfer Interview after you receive your child’s results.  At this stage you will make your school choices for the following year.
