Special Circumstances/Special Provision
(SOMETHING WHICH HAS IMPACTED YOUR CHILD THROUGHOUT THE ASSESSMENTS, FOR EG: BROKEN LIMB, BEREAVEMENT)
If a candidate’s performance in the CEA has been affected by circumstances beyond his/her control or if he/she was not able to be present to sit the assessment, parents/guardians may wish to apply for Special Circumstances or Special Provision following the assessment. The SC17 Application Form, the SC17 Guidance for Parents and the SC17 Guidance for Primary Principals may all be downloaded in a printable format on the links below.
(Special Circumstances forms will only be available upon request, and through download AFTER the assessments have been sat by the children.)
PLEASE NOTE : SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES ARE DIFFERENT FROM ACCESS ARRANGEMENTS… IF YOU REQUIRE ACCESS ARRANGEMENTS DUE TO LEARNING DIFFICULTIES / LANGUAGE, PLEASE SEE THE SECTION AT THE TOP TITLED ‘ACCESS ARRANGEMENTS’.
SC17 FORMS ALONG WITH ANY EVIDENCE SHOULD NOT BE RETURNED TO THE AQE OFFICE, SIMPLY HOLD ONTO THEM UNTIL THE NECESSARY TIME.
How the form is used…In summary…..
1. Obtain Form SC17 from either AQE website (please see the link above in due course) or a school to which you are applying.
2. Gather the evidence required to validate the claim and support any increase in the CEA score (e.g. doctors notes etc). It is essential that all evidence is provided at the time. Parents should be aware that in the criteria of some schools, independent evidence may carry greater weight.
3. Complete Form SC17 and then attach it along with the supporting evidence to the Transfer Form.
4. Take everything TO YOUR PRIMARY SCHOOL at the stage of your Transfer Interview after you receive your child’s results. At this stage you will make your school choices for the following year.
