Special Circumstances and Provisions

Special Circumstances/Special Provision

AQE do not process any of the applications for Special Circumstances/Provisions.  These are considered by the receiving post-Primary Schools.  Therefore, we cannot advise on appropriate evidences outside of the printed guidance notes. No Special Circumstances/Provisions documentation should be sent to the AQE Office.

If a candidate’s performance in the CEA has been affected by circumstances beyond his/her control or if he/she was not able to be present to sit the assessment, parents/guardians may wish to apply for Special Circumstances or Special Provision following the assessment.

The relevant forms and guidance will be available here after the assessment have been completed.  In the meantime you should gather any evidence which will be relevant to support your case.

The process of applying for Special Circumstances / Provisions

1. Obtain Form SC17 from the AQE website (available only after the assessments have been sat).

2. Gather the appropriate evidence required to validate the claim  (e.g. doctors notes etc). Any evidences should be preferably gathered at the time of the assessments.

3. Completed forms and evidences should be held until you attend the Transfer Interview with your Primary Principal in January/February to select school choices for your child next year.  All documentation relating to Special Circumstances/Provisions should be taken to this interview, along with a copy of your child’s AQE score, and attached to the Transfer Form provided for you.

PLEASE NOTE : SC17 FORMS ALONG WITH ANY EVIDENCE SHOULD NOT BE RETURNED TO THE AQE OFFICE, THESE SHOULD BE HELD UNTIL YOU ATTEND YOUR TRANSFER INTERVIEW IN FEBRUARY.
