Special Circumstances and Provisions

Special Circumstances/Special Provision

AQE do not process any of the applications for Special Circumstances/Provisions.  These are considered by the receiving post-Primary Schools.  Therefore, we cannot advise on appropriate evidences outside of the printed guidance notes. No Special Circumstances/Provisions documentation should be sent to the AQE Office.

If a candidate’s performance in the CEA has been affected by circumstances beyond his/her control or if he/she was not able to be present to sit the assessment, parents/guardians may wish to apply for Special Circumstances or Special Provision following the assessment.

The Special Circumstances form for the 2019/2020 cycle can be downloaded below;

Please do NOT return any completed SC19 forms to the AQE Office as they will not be processed. Details on where to submit your form can be found below.

You should refer to the Admissions Criteria of any individual post-primary school for more specific information. These can be found on the Education Authority website.

The process of applying for Special Circumstances / Provisions (2019/2020 cycle)

1. Download and print the SC19 form (available from December 2019)

2. Gather the appropriate evidence required to validate the claim  (e.g. doctors notes etc). Any evidences should be preferably gathered at the time of the assessments.

3.
